Information:

In 1998 David Greg Harth stamped the words "I AM AMERICA" on a United States one dollar bill. That started a large project which is both social and political. I started stamping various messages on U.S. currency and sometimes other world bank notes. I then circulate these stamped bills by trading and spending them. The most circulated note was the "I AM NOT TERRORIZED" phrase with over 1-million stamped notes in circulation. Other messages included "I AM STATE" and "I AM NOT CHURCH," "I AM HIV +" and "I AM HIV -," "I AM OIL," and many others. The Story:

When I think about the importance of voting rights I often think of three legends. Martin Luther King Jr., John Lewis, and Stacey Adams. On April 4th, 1968, MLK was assassinated. Today I’m announcing a new message I’m stamping on currency. “END VOTER SUPPRESSION”

There are a lot of people who don’t want you to vote. There are a lot of people who want to make it harder for you to vote. Instead, we must expand voter access, not restrict it.

Billionaires' wealth rises trillions and trillions of dollars amid the Covid pandemic. Governor Ron DeSantis of Florida seems to be making the COVID-19 vaccine easily accessible to the wealthy. White people showed up in droves to a vaccination site in a Latino neighborhood. First world countries are in line before third world countries. If you don’t vaccinate everyone, your ladder will break. If you don’t show love for everyone, everyone rises up.

The Story:

In 1998, I stamped my first message on currency with “I AM AMERICA.” Through the years I’ve continued with various messages, often political or social in nature. Ever since Donald J. Trump was president, racism has come to the forefront of society. It’s always been there. But Trump seemed to propel the problem that was always hidden just below the surface that citizens have been avoiding to address as a whole. Throughout his presidency he encouraged violence by his supporters and did not condemn violence by racist groups. In November 2020, Trump became the bigly biggest sore loser ever when he lost the election to Joe Biden. For months after, Trump then pushed the unfounded claims of election fraud. Finally, on January 6th, 2021 Trump encouraged his supporters to storm the capitol to fight like hell to save the country. This moment was broadcasted through the entire world. Most of humanity watched in horror as people clad in Trump paraphernalia and carrying American flags rioted at the U.S. Capitol to end democracy. At this moment I thought of the idea of doing yet another bill to address racism in the U.S.A. I’d like to announce my new work on currency, “AMERIKKKA” released on February 9th, 2021; the start of the second impeachment trial of Donald J. Trump.

I’m stamping currency with messages that need to be said. BLACK LIVES MATTER. I CAN’T BREATHE. STOP KILLING BLACK PEOPLE. HANDS UP DON’T SHOOT! And of course, a RAISED CLENCHED FIST. I first started some designs for BLM shortly after Eric Gardner was killed in July 2014. But it wasn’t until years later, after the murder of George Floyd in May 2020 when I finally figured out exactly what I wanted and what designs worked well.

The Story:

“I AM NOT TERRORIZED” and “I AM NOT AFRAID” were the fourth and fifth messages in the “I AM” series which started with “I AM AMERICA” in 1998. This two part message was released shortly after the terrorist attacks in New York on September 11th, 2001. Over One Million of these stamped messages were distributed in circulation over a period of three years. 100 are in a limited edition, signed and numbered. The unlimited edition are not signed or numbered and they are freely spent and traded to get the message out in circulation. Stamped on various denominations in red or black ink. Stamped on currency of other nations as well. This art work was featured in the New York Times, CNN, MTV, etc.

What started it all…

The Story:

In 1998, I wrote “I AM AMERICA” in red ink on a dollar. I drew a red box around it. That was the beginning. I then got my first rubber stamp made and I stamped my first message on currency with “I AM AMERICA.”

Yes.

Though anti-counterfeiting laws prohibit the willful destruction of, and stamping of advertisements upon, paper money, pursuant to I.I.18 U.S.C. § 333 of the United States Code, stamped currency is fit for circulation so long as its denomination remains legible.
